This is a Test- March 15, 2012

Good morning everyone!

I have had a plan all week for what I was going to do for today, and all of a sudden my thought process changed. I was going to sing to you, but then I thought it might be like when I would sing to you at night when you were still at home, and then you might want "just one more, please mom" - LOL. Joking aside, I actually felt impressed to do this instead for today:

"Man's earthly existence is but a test as to whether he will concentrate his efforts, his mind, his soul, upon things which contribute to the comfort and gratification of his physical nature, or whether he will make as his life's pursuit the acquisition of spiritual qualities.

Every noble impulse, every unselfish expression of love; every brave suffering for the right; every surrender of self to something higher than self; every loyalty to an idea; every unselfish devotion to principle; every helpfulness to humanity; every act of self-control; every fine courage of the soul, undefeated by pretense or policy, but by being, doing, and living good for the very good's sake - that is spirituality." David O. McKay

You have each heard me say that all sin is because of selfishness. So the challenge for today is to again evaluate the things we do each day and try to determine our motivation for doing it. If it touches on selfishness, then it would be something that would be worth making an effort to change.

Now for the chat challenge: We had a family home evening years ago where we had a piece of paper with each person's name on it. We then passed each sheet around the room and had everyone write something they admired, felt was special etc. about the person who's name was on the top of the sheet. After each person had added something to each sheet, we gave the sheet to the person who's name was at the top. There were many tears of joy shed by each that night. The purpose of the lesson was to show appreciation for everyone, and to strengthen our unity as a family. I think to this day, some of those sheets are read and cherished. So...I would like to see us do that today. I will set up a chat with each person's name on it and then would everyone please go there and add your feelings to it. I will also add one for your dad, Patty and Vaughn and then print them and send them to them. I love you all! Have a great day!- Mom
