Slow To Anger

"We’ve all felt anger. It can come when things don’t turn out the way
we want. It might be a reaction to something which is said of us or to
us. We may experience it when people don’t behave the way we want them
to behave. Perhaps it comes when we have to wait for something longer
than we expected. We might feel angry when others can’t see things
from our perspective. There seem to be countless possible reasons for
anger….If we desire to have a proper spirit with us at all times, we
must choose to refrain from becoming angry."

--Thomas S. Monson, "School Thy Feelings, O My Brother"

There are indeed countless possible reasons each day for us to be
angry. I was bummed & frustrated when my car got backed into yesterday
& didn't know whether to cry or yell first. As I watched the young gal
step out of her car... I knew she must've felt horrible & thought of
how I would want to be treated if I goofed. I calmed down & was able
to get the info I needed to carry on. It was an accident & my anger
would not have helped the situation.
I try to remember what I refer to
as the 10,10,10 rule. Is it going to matter 10 minutes from now? 10
hours from now? 10 days from now? 10 years from now? I am striving to
be more Christlike & loving with all I meet. I also try to remember
that we never know what other people are struggling with & need to
give others the benefit.

Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
